French Artist born in 1986 KYLAM work is a mix of so many things that inspire me, in particular old symbolism and slogan or ad imagery. He likes to use strong symbolism and pictures out of their context. Handmaking work is very important in my artistic process, he try to do all that he can do by himself only and avoid touching any kind of computer. A lot of people of his generation have lost the way of creating with simple materials like pens or ink, they prefer computer or digital art. He want to go to the source, the first real sense that we found when we started to draw in our childhood, just chilled and making stories. KYLAM think it’s a bit because he’s someone very conservatory, he prefer touchable art more than virtual art.
All starting when he was a teen, he discovered wildstyle graffiti and practiced it a lot, it was a real obsession. After many years, it became a bit closed and KYLAM needed to try another way of expressing himself, graffiti had reached its limits for him. So He decided to draw the things he had in his mind, more instinctive, personal, gross and creating characters and worlds for playing with them and showing what he want without any limits of imagination.
It’s hard to synthetize in few words, some things that inspire him are : old civilisations, symbolism, people, conspiracy, money, freaks, advertising, alchemy, typography, minimalism. Music is really a big part of my process to create so he listen to a lot, it give him ideas or a mood.
